Steve has been working in the Addictions and

Mental Health Field for 30 years and currently runs

his private practice - Steve Stokes Counselling

and Consulting.


Steve has recently completed his training and is a

Certified Sex Addition Therapist (CSAT).

He specialises in Developmental Trauma

Treatment and Complex PTSD and Affect Regulation

and its relationship to all Addiction Treatment.

Steve specialises in Sex Addiction Treatment, Sex,

Love and Avoidance addiction Treatment and

co-occurring addictions and underlying

Developmental Trauma.


As part of Steve Stokes Counselling Services, Steve offers Private therapy, Radical Exposure Therapy, Relationship Counselling, Family Therapy, Interventions, and Supervision and Training. Also all aspects of treatment for addictions specialising in sex addiction treatment and co-occurring addictions and mental health with a specialty in Relapse Prevention and Developmental Trauma. Steve has expertise in working with Pia Melody's Developmental Immaturity Model for many years, as well as the shame reduction work of John Bradshaw, the addiction tools of Dr Patrick Carnes and uses the Somatic Tools of Peter Levine and Pat Ogden. Steve has been trained by Dr Laurie McKinnon for Radical Exposure Therapy (Tapping Therapy) and Brainspotting by Dr Roby Abeles.


Currently facilitating Men's and Women's Yallom Process Groups.

As part of his private practice Steve has facilitated weekend retreats focusing on recovery issues, men's work, relationships and spirituality. Steve has also appeared as a guest therapist on television, radio and in print. 

Steve has worked for South Pacific Private Hospital as Program Director, NSW Health Department both in Drug and Alcohol Services and youth work.
